“As mad not as a March hare, but as a madde dogge.”

The phrase has been in continuous use in our language since the 16th century; and in 2013 not much has changed. After the overabundance of Texas Mountain Laurel in full bloom, and SXSW finishing out in full force; we’ve got a lot to keep each other excited about and busy during the month of March. If you are a native to Austin, you know just how precious this time sandwiched between now and May can be; spring! and all of it’s glory has finally arrived.

Within our debuts for continuous growth and improvement in the spa and wellness treatments that we offer you, we’re excited to share them exclusively (as is the case with Moroccanoil Body Treatments). This spring provides opportunity to give you new treatments to continuously enjoy. As always, with our core purpose to pair education with our services; we hope to see you during our two Spring Cleaning events with our Estheticians, and iS Clinical representative; we love giving you all the tools you need to not only make informed decisions about your skincare routine, but allow you to be fully informed about those purchases. Afterall, what is confidence anyway? It’s Beauty.

Work by Ana S. Nail Technician & Eyelash Extension Specialist

Ana S. Nail Technician

I saw this on Pinterest… can you recreate it for me? My nails feel weak, what am I doing wrong with them? Are you the lady that recreated Adele’s Louboutin nails from the Grammy’s? I sat down with Ana S., our most senior nail technician at AZIZ that has been creating a lot of buzz lately with her nail creations – to uncover the truth behind some of her product favorites (that actually WORK), and what the Pinterest DIY photo obsessions are missing; Are you ready for the barenaked truth? Let’s dive in!

Where do you find your inspiration for nails?
“Instagram and Pinterest. My clients bring it in, and I do it for them. With all of the social media now-a-days and celebrities being seen out with nail want me to duplicate that look and i canart; it really has caught the attention of a lot of people that want me to duplicate that look… and I can.”

Why should I come to You?
“Because I listen to what you Need. You can talk to me about the Shape of your nails, what type of nail shapes look best on hands. Also, with nail art, if it doesn’t work out, or isn’t quite how you envisioned I don’t have a problem taking them off and doing normal polish.”

I can’t help Lana Del Rey Inspired Nailsbut shed a sigh of relief as I immediately think about some of the DIY Lana del Rey inspired mishaps I’ve had… to think if I had told someone I was so certain William Tell Me About OPI would look phenomenal, and not like “vulture claws” as I later called them.

“Basically it comes down to communication, which I love to do with my clients to make sure I’m giving them what they need the most.”

So, is there a type of nail shape that’s best for hand Types?
“It’s more with your lifestyle and personal preference. A lot of my working clients really like having short well manicured hands, while the social butterflies usually insist on the long pointed nails. It’s a personAna Shellac Nails and Chevronal preference with rounded or squared shape, and when my client’s ask my opinion is when I get to offer them my professional advice. I base myself on their personality and their needs.”

You are a complete Veteran to this industry with 20+ years of experience. You’ve seen the fads come and go, what’s the biggest change in the past decade?
“Acryllic nails. Without a doubt, people are more concerned and interested in overall nail health with their natural nails than having acryllics put on. Nail care over looks has taken shape in the past 10 years.”

So, with that in mind… what’s your cuticle go to product for your clients?
“CND OIL.  it goes with the CND Shellac and is perfect for cuticle care to make sure you are continually getting rehydration to your nail bed between services.”

For those of us that didn’t know: CND’s Solar Oil is actually an Award-winning cuticle oil infused with jojoba oil and vitamin E. Repeated use drives nutrients in deeper, creating stronger, healthier nails and hydrated cuticle area. SolarOil should be used with ANY nail service. You can snag a small bottle for your purse at AZIZ for $7.99

for the peep toe pumps i insist on wearingIn knowing you personally, I know you are an avid salsa dancer, and understand a girl’s Need for fabulous high heels. How do you keep your feet healthy and looking gorgeous all of the time?
Honestly, I use a pumice stone on my heels daily, and the ZENTS Shea Butter lotion… daily. (FYI the ZENTS Shea Butter Lotion has 3 key ingredients that make it better than any ordinary lotion you’d find at a major retailer, read our take on them here) also, I have to have to have to have Shellac on my toes. It keeps my feet looking good for the peep-toe shoes I insist on wearing. My next project is to have a model with normal polish on one foot and shellac on the other, just so you can really see the difference between the depth of polish on the two, and how they both look after a week of wear. (hmm, we’ll keep you posted)

OPI’s Axxium Soak Off Gel Lacquers come in a number of fan-favorite OPI polish colors and are easily applied and soaked off.
