JUNE, nationally, is Men’s Health Awareness Month. At AZIZ Salon and Day Spa, we are taking the men’s perspective into consideration; here’s a behind-the-scenes exclusive Q&A with two of our amazing Massage Therapists, Heather D. and Misty H. to deliver the facts. Straight forward. No fluff. And, maybe some car comparisons, for good measure.
While Misty H. states the most commonly asked question that she gets asked by her male clients seems to be “What are those knots made of and how do they get there?”, Heather D. points out that she “tend(s) almost always get asked if (she) is capable of working really deep with lots of hard pressure being so petite.”
The answer is, yes, guys.
How often should you be getting a massage anyway? Heather D. prescribes that “on average every 3-4 weeks is recommended for optimal results and benefit; however, no longer than every 6 weeks.”
Misty H. explains it like this guys: “your body maintenance is like taking care of your car. The harder you work it and the more stress placed on it the better chances of breakdown or sluggish running. Everyone is different for how often. You should get your first few massages close together so the therapist can propel you forward on healing and then you can decide if your oil change is every two weeks or every two months.”
Heather D. reminds us that getting massages regularly “is a preventative step. When working with an injury that needs to be healed, then massage is recommended on average once a week to every other week (depending on the nature of the injury of course.)”
Alright, oil checked, and engine light taken care of. Next time we’ll peruse the Arnica aisle, shall we?
